As a B2B agency, winning a B2B-specific award is that little bit sweeter. And this award is no exception.
Picking up the award for B2B SEO Campaign of the Year at this year’s UK Digital Growth Awards is a real testament to our team and their hard work over the last 12 months. But while winning awards is amazing, the true value comes in delivering measurable results for our clients.
While some may have awards in their minds first, all our work at Smart Monkey is focussed on delivering for the client first. The way we look at it is, if we do a good job for our clients, the awards will come. And our work with Perrys is no exception.
We have been working with Perrys Accountants for many years, helping them to increase their organic visibility and drive traffic to key pages. But our work over the last 18 months has been focussed on really driving forward their visibility in the capital.
Having moved to a new London office, they were looking to attract clients based in the capital. And after being told by their web design agency that it would be too competitive, they came to us asking if we could help. And help we did.
We set aside time to understand their business goals and the reasoning behind all the strategic decisions, to devise a plan of action. Our first port of call was setting the SEO foundations – creating a technically clean website and making it easy for anyone landing on the site to understand what Perrys did, how they could help them, and making it straightforward to get in touch.
As we were focussed on ramping up visibility for the London branches, we needed to ensure it could compete with more established and high-ranking websites in the capital. To do this, we did a full content audit and made necessary changes and additions to add value for potential customers, placing Perrys as the go-to accountants in London.
While this wasn’t going to be an easy task, we knew we could do it. And as such, we agreed to increase leads by 40% and earn the top 3 local map pack ranking and page 1 ranking for their holy grail keyword.
We worked incredibly closely with the team throughout. And they really trusted us to deliver. So much so, that when we recommended they move to a new CMS, they took our lead. The old CMS offered limited scope to create well-designed pages – something that would improve the user journey. We couldn’t make changes to the overall taxonomy of the site, and we also encountered technical glitches that slowed us down.
They opted for the CMS we recommended, and we supported them, giving them migration support, conversion optimisation, and landing page updates, to set the site up for the future.
During this migration, we noticed some competitors changed their strategy, allowing us to pivot and attract new customers.
Our work over the last 18 months has not only helped to set them up for success in the future, but made an impact in the short term.
Among other things, we:
- Increased ‘London’-specific keywords by 10.5 positions
- Grew organic traffic by just shy of 1,200%
- Increased the number of keywords on page 1 by 1900%
- Got three of their holy grail keywords ranking in position 1
Beth Nash, Smart Monkey’s founder, said, “2024 was the year we really drilled down into our B2B expertise, becoming a B2B specialist agency, delivering SEO, PPC, and digital PR for SME clients in the B2B space. And while we’ve worked with B2B brands for many years, scoping a B2B specialist award in our first year of being a B2B specialist agency is incredible.
“We have some incredible clients – including Perrys – who have been with us for many years. And we believe that is down to us remaining a small, agile agency that puts ROI and performance at the heart of everything we do.”
As for the future, well, as much as 2024 has been an incredible year so far, we’re looking forward to the next 12 months. We have some amazing new client wins to announce soon, and our rebrand, which we unveiled last month, is helping us to take strides towards growth.
